A friend and I, who are both Lutherans although different denominations, have been having a discussion about pastors today and their roles in the church and their parishes. She has put forth the idea that contemplative pastors more in the catholic tradition are fine, especially if they have a wife who is very friendly. I however have put forth the idea that it is more important that they be the friendly spiritual caretakers who is always there for people when they need a smiling face. While certainly an ideal pastor would be everything but unfortunately no one is perfect. So what are others opinions on the subject.
